brakes or no brakes...

All of us DBRB members have been discussing the current bills that the senate passed this week. We have talked about blogging on the bills, writing to senators, doing opinion polls. It has been frustrating. But I think this morning Velovixen summed up our stand on the issue.....

Brakes will not stop stupid people.

Yep, that about wraps it up.

Oh and Triton looks great in this mornings paper!

  1. yeah I agree with Velovixen's statement wholeheartedly. Elliot Werk was responsible for this stupid bill and that is too bad. Sen. Werk is a good dude and one of the few progressive liberals that exist down at that statehouse. It seems to me that he got wind of an easy piece of legislation and ran with it. IF this is a way for him to have some leverage with some larger issues like cars killing cyclists then I suppose a brake on my fixed gear could be worth it. If not...well..whatever I guess. Here are a few things I would like attached to this bill as riders: 1. mandatory sirens on all hybrid fucking cars. they are too quiet and I have been close to death twice as I was cut off by these silent killers. 2. outlaw ear-buds while riding, YEAH try that one on! I know that is B.S. but it is definitely a safety concern that I see every day. I won't ride with them even though I LOVE to ride with them. Iron Maiden + fast riding = awesome. 3. oh I don't know. Tax all cars for being on the road and give it to BBP. I could go on forever here but it would be boring and you have heard it from me before.

You guys wanna do a MORE COWBELL AGAIN soon? I do.

  2. Just because you have to put a brake on your bike does not mean you have to use it....and really, track bikes are for the erm, well, track. Cars are totally unpredictable and if that brake saves your life so you can ride another day... it seems worth it. I totally agree with that brakes will not stop stupid...but maybe energies are better spent getting them to use the funds to make better and more bike lanes, paths and what ever happened to that velodrome?

  3. MMF - the velodrome has become legend and folklore. At least for now - read more here: http://www.boiseweekly.com/boise/velodrome-spins-out/Content?oid=1515969
